Charles Foster Kane in 1925

In case there aren't any newspapers where you come from, I myself am a publisher of some influence...

- Charles Foster Kane

Charles Foster Kane was a media publisher and the owner of a vast newspaper empire, based in New York City. He ran his business empire from his private estate, Xanadu.

In 1925, during the events of Heart of Ice, Kane was safeguarding the treasure of Queen Ayesha when it was stolen by Janni and the crew of the Nautilus. Kane entrusts the task of retrieving the stolen treasure to Reade, Wright and Swyfte, three top American inventors.

Unfortunately for Kane, the inventors failed in their mission. Swyfte was the sole survivor and was left insane. Kane broke the news to Ayesha and he then decided to give up his pursuit for the treasure.

Kane is based on the titular character in Orson Welles' 1941 film Citizen Kane. The character himself is largely inspired by the real-life newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst, the role of whom Kane fills in the League universe.
